Description
This work was recorded on page 29 in Volume 5 of the "Ningshou jiangu (Reflections on Antiquity from the Palace of Tranquil Longevity)," and labeled as "Han-era Animal-Shaped Zun Vessel II ." The work was originally housed at the Rehe Traveling Palace. This vessel has a very unique design in that it takes the form of a double-horned ram on a four-wheeled platform. The surface is decorated with fine silver inlays, with gold inlays in parts, and studded with green and crimson artificial rust . From spots where the inlaid silver has come loose, it can be seen that the lines are quite shallow. The animal design and decorative patterns of this vessel may have originated from Shang-era bronzeware, but the attached four-wheel platform was likely a creation of later eras.
