  硯作正方形、下有四足，受墨處正上方為墨池、硯四周圍成渠，硯色紫中泛紅，有砂斑青綠、頗古雅深厚，硯面環渠周邊凹刻流雲紋一道，硯壁四周中央凸雕獸面紋各一，上下各圍以弦紋一道，四足以獸足為飾，硯背中央凸起處，鐫「能然以其」，四字篆文、有一欄圓印，曰「宜子孫」，四周刻雲紋。
