Exhibition Concept

The NPM Zoo exhibition is co-hosted by the National Palace Museum (NPM), three public zoos (i.e., the Taipei Zoo, Hsinchu Zoo, and Shoushan Zoo), and the National Museum of Marine Biology & Aquarium (NMMBA), marking it the first-ever exhibition held by the NPM, the public zoos, and the NMMBA together. The goals of the exhibition are to draw young children to the NPM to see its exhibitions and teach them about concepts such as artifact preservation, ecological preservation, and animal welfare. The exhibition will provide them with an opportunity to enjoy ancient paintings and enlighten them on the importance of protecting animals and preserving artifacts.

Mobile Zoo

This exhibition, made possible because of the joint efforts made by the NPM, the three public zoos, and the NMMBA, introduces various animal images and related audios and videos at its exhibition venue and guidebook. On the exhibition webpage are 10 and two animal sounds respectively provided by the Shoushan Zoo and Hsinchu Zoo, which the public can download free of charge as their ringtones or for any other non-commercial purposes. The objectives are to bring animals into people's lives and raise their awareness on issues such as ecological preservation and biodiversity. Previous mobile zoos have generally gone on “tours” teaching educational activities. By contrast, this mobile zoo uses the Internet to offer downloadable educational materials (e.g., animal ringtones) to the public.

Go download your favorite animal ringtone and listen to the sounds of different animals!
