Description
This lidded bowl has an everted mouth, slanting straight walls, and a short ring foot. The bowl is paired with a plate-shaped lid that also has a ring foot. The exterior of the bowl is decorated with four sets of floral spray patterns that include representative flowers from each of the four seasons, namely, peonies and China roses; peonies and daisies; camellias and plum blossoms; and chrysanthemums. The inner side of the lid is decorated with a China rose, while a lotus flower is depicted within the ring foot on the exterior side. On the underside of the bowl, using yellow pigment, the characters, "Kang Xi Yu Zhi (Made for the Imperial Use of the Kangxi Emperor)," have been inscribed in standard script in two columns, for a total of four characters. The inscription is surrounded by two squares with lines of differing thickness.
