Description

Designed in the form of a rooster, this lacquer box (KD000393N000000000) contains a miniature ivory boat. Each feather on the rooster has been gilded with gold leaf, and the edges have also been traced in gold. The feathers have been layered in a naturalistic pattern, and bear a soft sheen, as if they have just been cleaned and combed. The rooster has quite a lifelike appearance, with a round plump body, red lacquer comb with gilded gold thread, and bright eyes.
