Description
This gallbladder-shaped vase has a tapering mouth with a ridged rim, a long neck, slanted shoulders, and a broad belly that tapers gently toward the base. The thick ceramic body is coated in white glaze, and the surface is decorated with polychrome paintings of mountains, rivers, villages, and human figures. On the neck, two lines of poetry state, "The villages are abundant with green trees, and the calls of the black-naped orioles can be heard throughout the days." The red seals at the head and end of the poem respectively state "shou ru (longevity akin to)," "shan gao (high mountains)," and "shui chang (long rivers)." On the underside of the base, a blue inscription of two columns in standard script at the center reads, "Qian Long Nian Zhi (Made in the Qianlong Reign)." The inscription is surrounded by a double-square frame.
